We are apple-solutely excited for Rosh Hashanah 5738!  This apple printing project is a great way to incorporate art into the holiday for little ones.  We hope you're ready to get a little messy!  (Apple printing is also a great project for Sukkot and Thanksgiving!)

There are times when we eat all our fruit halfway through the week and need to run out for more, and other times we can't eat it fast enough. This week, we couldn't quite get through all our apples in time so we decided to do some apple printing to get ready for Rosh Hashanah!

What you need:
1 apple
Knife (For the adult only)
Paint (We used craft acrylic, but you can also use tempera paint.)
Tray, lid, or paper plate for paint
Paper for printing
Towels and wipes for cleanup
Step 1: Cut apples in half.  We chose to cut them across the middle to reveal the star, but you can also cut them top to bottom for more of a classic apple shape.

Step 2: Talk about the star and let your little one feel it.  It's really exciting for them!  Pour paint on your tray.  We started with one color, then added more as we went.

Step 3:  Put the apple, flat side down, and wiggle it around a little in the paint.  We like to say, "wiggle, wiggle," while we do this.

Step 4: Press the apple onto the paper.  Make sure not to let it move or slide around.

Step 5:  Lift the apple straight up.  You may need to help you little one with this the first time.  Put your hand on top of their hand so they can feel the motion of pulling the apple straight up.

Step 6:  Repeat these steps as many times as you'd like, and add more colors to your tray!

Step 7: Ta-daa!

How did you do?  We'd love to see your finished artwork!  If you'd like to share it with us, tags us on Instagram or Facebook @KVELLclothing
